Clearing a villa, apartment or shop in Riyadh usually leaves you with a surprising amount of metal: old doors and window frames, air conditioners, water tanks, pipes, shelving and cables. Most of it has real value as scrap. This guide explains how to plan the clearance so the metal is sold, not thrown away.
Walk through and list the metal
Start with a simple walk-through, room by room, and note every metal item. Typical finds in Riyadh homes and shops include:
- Split and window air conditioners, working or not.
- Steel doors, gates, window frames and security grilles.
- Aluminum frames, shop fronts and partitions.
- Copper pipes and electrical cables.
- Water tanks, heaters and metal shelving.
A list like this makes it much easier to get an accurate quote.
Decide what to remove and what to leave
Some items, such as fixed air conditioners or built-in frames, need to be removed carefully. Decide early who will do it. If you are using a contractor for the renovation, ask them to set the metal aside in one place instead of mixing it with general rubbish. Mixed loads are always priced lower.
Sort and stack
Keep each type of metal in its own pile: iron and steel together, aluminum separate, copper and cables separate, and air conditioners kept whole. Leaving air conditioners intact matters because the compressor and coils hold most of their value. Stack items close to the entrance so they are easy to reach.
Check access before collection day
Riyadh villas and shops often have narrow streets, gates or limited parking. Note the width of the access, any height limits and whether items are on an upper floor. Share this with the buyer when you ask for a quote so they arrive prepared. Let the building guard or neighbours know about the collection time if needed.
Get the quote and agree the price
Send photos of each pile, your district and your list of items. Ask for the price per material and confirm the total before loading starts. Keep the confirmation in writing on WhatsApp.
A little planning turns a messy clearance into a tidy one, and the metal you remove helps cover part of the cost of the job.
